Mechanical Parameters Q&A

General dissusion will be about the mechanical properties of the OSD. Lets try to stay away from software issues, unless it has a direct relation to something mechanical ie. certain codec needs more processing power which in turn creates more heat.
1. max operating temperature - How high can the system temp go before things start to toast. I am planning to encase in water proof case, will I need heat sinks, fans? Today running tests with temp probes for standard temps to see how much it generates on its own.
2. Power Tolerances - 5VDC in, what is the +- before things don't work right. Planning to rig on extreme sport vehicles, I do have a 12VDC to 5VDC (cheap cell phone charger), but as the engine revs the power could peak to 6/7VDC, as the engine starts the power could dip to 3/4VDC.

yes me too, bought it to use in car, wondering about using standard USB power since that's 5 volts.
Bought it last year and not yet been able to use it at all because of the missing 5v power supply problem, so very interested in anyone who as actually tried anything without frying the device.
I can't help wonder why the makers don't test it for us instead of us having to risk our toys to potential destruction.. :-)

5v issue solution:
Used cigarette phone adapter from the .99 store, puts out 5v's, tested and works great for auto, while running and during startup, no drop outs. Use EMI protective magnet on bullet cam to ensure video quality.

A PSP external battery works perfect. Since the OSD has an identical DC plug as the PSP you can use a PSP car adaptor or an external PSP battery as follows:

I am also playing with WIFI to stream the video live
