Well things where working great then all of a sudden I can't browse my network anymore.
I can access the internet with the u tube function but I can't anything from LAN.
I can ping the OSD from my other computers and the other computers can see each other.

I was streaming video at one time with the newest beta version just fine for a few days. Then after a reboot no more browseing the shares. I used to see all 5 of my computers come up on the OSD network section.

So I down graded the firmware to the stable release, reset the IP, tryed both static and auto dhcp but still can't see the network any more. I'm at my witts end. What could have caused the loss of just the netbios browse function? I'm going to purchase a new switch today to see if it just went bad. I'll change the cables but if I can get out to the internet ok ...? Thanks

I can't browse my network anymore either. I was able to see my linux box than after I upgraded the firmware, I don't see it anymore. I only get a blank page when I go to browse the network.

Hmmm, firstly just for my curiosity, have you guys noticed any problems saving settings? Say, if you alter your default recording settings, save, and then go back to view them, were the changes saved?

To test if the OSD is working on your networks, can you perform a youtube search? (since youtube changed their site recently, older firmware fail to play youtube videos - but searches work).

Can you guys telnet into your OSDs?

I tried to telnet into the unit. No problem. I than changed my IP saved and unplugged the unit. I plugged it back in and checked the network settings, they were correct. Changed the IP address back and saved. Went to browse network and I can see my Linux box again.

I don't know what fixed it but it is working now. Cheesy

Reboot did it then. That's decidedly un-linux...

I do not think it was the reboot that fixed it. When it happened that was the first thing that I tried. I knew it wasn't the network because my xbox media center was seeing the linux box. It was either logging into the unit over telnet or the changing of the IP address and than changing it back. I would suspect it was the changing of the IP address, now that did involve a reboot, but like I mentioned I tried that before.

3rdaxis are you still having the problem?

Yes I'm still having issues. I'll try to figure out how to do the IP change with telnet.
I can change the IP address with the GUI but it still doesn't see all my computers. It's really hit and miss what it finds.
When I first started it up it saw everything.
What I would like to do is increase the NETBIOS seak time. I  have it going through a switch, to a wireless DSL router but all my computers are on the same first switch and the IP is in the same subnet. I can browse and search the utube site fine. I do have windoz computers so that may be part of the issue.

Bummer, All it will see now is my kids computer. Upgraded firmware, reset the IP address static and automatic, rebooted multiple times, connected directly to my laptop computer, changed the DNS and reset the IP address to defaults, rebooted, reinstalled the latest firmware, moved it to a diffrent network, rebooted....  telneted into the OSD but I don't know how to change the ip address and can't find the tutorial for doing it with telnet.
Why it's not working all of a sudden when it was working fine before doesn't make any sense to me.
This is the reason this kind of stuff fails, one day it works and the next it doesn't.
Guess you have to be a programer to use this OSD or linux.

What firmware version are you using? Our team might have changed a setting that led to this, the network setup was pretty straightforward 2 weeks ago.  We will figure this out. If you can help troubleshoot and post your findings on bugzilla.neurostechnology.com that would be great.

Thanks-

I'm useing the newest Dev version as of today 9-7-07. I also tried the latest beta and the latest stable versions.
Man I wish I knew more about doing stuff in Linux. I love this thing, it's a great idea and when it was working for me it was awesome.
It's like the settings are stuck or the IP settings are not being over written when I make a change even though the GUI says they are. I tried the bugzilla thing first but I'm still waiting on permission to login.

Thanks,

OK I got the OSD to see at least one computer even though I have 5 on my network.  Grin It must be a timing thing with the network scan component and once it gets one machine it sticks with it. I can refreash the network until I'm blue in the face but it will see only one computer. I disabled the uPNP on my DSL router and anywhere else I could find it, that seemed to help abit. So I'm streaming videos to my TV again from my windows vista machine.
I'm useing the latest beta code  3.33-1.44.
Still waiting for bugzilla login infomation. Oh and my user name doesn't see the @ symbol, I have to put in (at) to login.

Can we get the code and fix stuff?

Cheers,

Well that's a start, but this is still not acceptable. I'm quite confused as to what is wrong, I *had* a 2k machine that wasn't appearing to the OSD, but suddenly now it is. I'm very confused! Have a look at this post on the procedure the OSD uses to locate shares, perhaps you could step through it and see how it goes? (root now has a password: "pablod").

You should not be waiting this long for Bugzilla. I suggest you try again. Bugzilla is a bit messy, be sure you're filling in the correct form.

Gosh yes! The OSD is mainly open source. Did you read the guide to hacking the OSD?
