Why was digital audio removed from the OSD2 specs? I think that this was a big mistake, one that dooms this product.

You mean Digital audio out? I believe such is sent via the HDMI cable.

Yeah, HDMI carries a digital audio signal.

As far as a digital audio signal in general, the digital feed is still 48kHz @ 32 bit.  (Some newer equipment allows higher resolution, but this is the original standard that is the minimum you can guarantee an optical port to accept.)  The only real reason that this would be preferable to an analogue audio signal is if the DAC in your TV or Surround system is better than the one in the OSD (and based off of the DAC in the NII, I'm betting the difference would be minimal if so).

I'm not really seeing "Doom" at this point... Care to elaborate?
