As XBMC is currently very CPU intensive and doesn't use the GPU that much is there any chance of releasing a version of the LINK with a higher CPU so that it can handle smooth playback of 1080p?

I've only had experience of Intel CPUs so I'm not sure what the Link's CPU equivalent in intel terms would be.

well, the link does handle 1080p video pretty well, it was a pre-requisite in our selection.  Others on this list are having trouble with 1080p content, but I believe it can be handled with software bug fixes.  Even without using the GPU, we have 2.8GHz, so we deliberately built in enough cycles for some extra headroom (and the knowledge that many sources can't use the GPU well).  Frankly, much of the distinction between the LINK and embedded devices or electronics, is the fast CPU.  Adobe flash, move networks, and others require it.

That being said, it's a AM2+ socket, so a user could certainly put in a higher one if they "just had to have one."
