I have finally had time to unpack my 442 from Woot and begin playing with it.  I dragged and dropped a couple videos off my PC into the PVR folder and they played fine.  MP3's played fine too.  However, when I hooked up the a/v output on the 442 to try and display one of the videos on one of our TV's it outputted the audio but no video signal. I tried hooking the 442 up to two different VCR's as well as to my TV directly with no luck.  I also tried both cables that came with the 442. I then tried to record off my TV onto the 442 with the video recorder and the 442 will record the TV audio but no video signal shows up on the 442 from the TV.  Is there some setting I need to configure on the 442 to get it to input and output video, or do I just have a lemon as far as video input/output?  This is very frustrating as I would like to be able to try this out.  I found nothing in the manual (which is rather poor, imo) addressing this.  If it's the latter, please let me know what I need to do to get it replaced asap.  Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.  - Mark

Make sure you have the mini connector plugged fully into the 442 as far as it will go. Its also a good idea to insert and remove it a few times to break the connection point in.
When displaying to the TV you need to press the TV/Lock button to put the 442 into TV output mode.

Double check that you have the RCA plugs going to the correct connectors on your DVD player and/Or TV.

Mark-

I had the same problem the first time I tried to output video as well, sound but no video. JEFFH gave you the right tip: make sure your cables are well connected and play with them a little bit. New ports are often tight, which could explain your problem.

Let us know if that solves your output issue.

I tried putting the plug in at different depths before posting, also double-checked to make sure it was pushed in as far as possible.  Tried both again after receiving your reply.  Still nothing.  Have also tried it with the TV/Lock button both on and off.  Nothing works.

I've made sure everything was connected properly, tried connecting the 442 to various outputs and inputs with no luck.  I even removed and reinserted the mini-plug in both the input and output connections probably two dozen times based on your replies.  Still nothing.  No video going out or coming in -- audio is fine both ways but there is zero video signal either way.  Not sure what else to do.

I also tried outputting the photo viewer to the TV directly and both VCR's and, again, the video didn't appear on the TV but the audio (set to play during the slideshow) did play.  Question:  When this thing is actually working properly for outputting a/v to a TV can you still view the video on the 442 or does the video on the 442 cut out when the output is hooked up. (in other words, does the video output switch from the LCD to the TV?)  I can still watch the video on the 442, just wondering if it is supposed to that.  If nobody has any other suggestions to make this thing work, please let me know how to exchange it for a working unit.  Thank you.

BTW, any chance the problem is due to the fact that it still is running the factory installed firmware (version 1.2.2)?  I've tried to upgrade with NSM and it won't let me do so. (but that's the subject of another thread)  Just trying to isolate possible causes of the video problems.

You are not supposed to see the picture on the screen of the 442 once you use the TV/LOCK button. Do you see a red key at the bottom of the screen when you hit the TV/LOCK key?

If you've tried all those things and it's still not working, I'd give customer support a call.  From the sticky:

If you’re still not getting any satisfaction, please email us with your problem at support@neurosaudio.com. You can also usually get an actual (and helpful) human voice if you call toll-free between 9 AM and 5 PM Central Time at: 866-5NEUROS. If no one answers, please leave a message with your number, and we’ll get back to you.

FYI- You're problem is not related to firmware, as there is no updated firmware released yet.  I also posted under that thread for clarification.

Yes, the red key appears but the video (whether video or still images) remains on the 442 and does not appear on the output device.

Thanks.  I'll give that a try and post whatever solution we find, if any.

It sounds like maybe you are locking the 442 out.
what you want to do is just push the tv/lock button momentarly
to switch it to TV output. The 442 screen should go black when the TV output comes on.
Holding the TV/lock button puts the 442 into lock mode and it won't respond to any button inputs. you hold the TV/Lock button in again to unlock it.

If your still not getting video the unit must be bad and needs to be replaced.
One thing I founf interesting is you are getting Audio during the slide show. I have not been able to get that to work myself.

I too am having this problem where I cannot output to TV.  I tried the two provided AV cables and different vcrs and tvs and twisted the plugs...etc as was suggest in the posts below, but I am getting no video signal and just audio.  Has there been a fix to this problem, is the hardware faulty or is it a firmware bug?

Thanks.

maybe sort of stupid, but make sure you are putting it in the input of your VCR or wherever your input is. If you play video games, set it up like you would a ps2 or something, and hook it up to the 442. I have a problem to, when i hook it up sometimes, after 30 min of play, the sound is distorted and messes up. Any input?

Yup.  I plugged it in just like I plug in my PS2.  I have two video in/output feeds and the 442 doesn't work in either.  Any thoughts or anyone else finding problems?  How successful is the tv out feature from your Neuros and has Neuros support gotten back to any of you on this issue?
