I have a 20G backpack I've had for 3? years and haven't used it for the last 1 1/2 because it wouldn't let me into the harddrive. I've been through ALL of the diagnostic troubleshooting, even sent it back to the factory TWICE. They supposedly had it working and sent it back. BOTH times it began to cycle between the diagnostics and telling me about Error 0xA860,  "Hold Play button to restart", and then I'm back to the diagnostics. Now I'd like to know if there is anything more I can do with this 20G's worth of uselessness? My 126meg unit works fine.

Where can I get a replacement drive for my Neuros 1    20G drive?
Thanks

Have you tried using Scandisk on Windows on the Neuros?

If not, do the following:
1.  Go to Start > Run... > type in cmd and hit Enter.  At the command prompt, type in chkdsk G: /R and hit Enter, where G is the Neuros's drive letter.  Follow the prompts and wait a while while it scans and recovers bad sectors (that's what the /R switch does).  You may have to format the unit afterward.

The original question was not answered.  I need a 20 gig HD where might I purchase; or borrow; or beg one?

http://www.cool4u2view.com/Neuros_files/Page721.html

This site shows how to replace the harddrive as well as listing disk models that will work.  The instructions are quite good.  Just make sure you have the right tools.  Torx screwdrives are not common in most folks' toolbox

I replaced the old 20 GB disk with an 80 GB disk using a Hitachi Travelstar.

Popping the cover back in place was a little tricky, but that was the only part that was tricky.  This site mentions that you may have to format the drive using a DOS window to get the.  I formatted mine using the format command on the Neuros.

You can get a used HD on Ebay.
Ebay user (id) etailsurplus has had 20GB Neuros for sale as early as last week.

If you could go into more detail on this 'screen of death' we might be able to troubleshoot a bit. Are there any error codes?
