This battery, with a few minor modifications provides 10 amp hours (very long use)for any Neuros.
Add a very efficient 5 volt regulator (low q current)and solder the + wire to the center and you have a very very long lasting external battery supply.
Comes complete with the battery charger.

A power pack II with a modified barrel plug (+center)
works great.

Gosh, was just looking at Li-Ion batteries on that same website.

Wonder if anyone knows if you could risk plugging 7.4volts into the Neuros?

I don't know if I have the skill or knowledge to work out what I need to make a 5 volt regulator Sad

bad idea, its not meant to take that many volts

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me that curiosity killed the cat...What she forgot to tell me was that it also discovered the cat, invented the lightbulb, and forged the Neuros

Funny, I'm looking at the same thing.[Smiley]

I just ordered a DigiPower DPS-9000:
http://www.digipowersolutions.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/405
from Ritz Camera:
http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/814080255.htm

Small, light, 2200mAh at 7.2V but comes with a 5V step-down voltage regulator cable.  See review here:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/DPS9000/DPS9000.HTM

It should be here in a day or two for testing.

I've found several other possibilities after much googling.  I'll post more if anyone is interested.

Thanks, that's a great find, be interested in how you get on.  The reviewer mentions with the 5v regulator, pulling more than 1250mA the voltage starts to drop a little.  I have not measured the Recorder II, but I suspect with my plan to use two of them I may hit trouble.

So any other information/products you found from your research would be interesting.

If you want to use 2 NR2's together, a large capacity 12V battery
can be used with a 2 amp 5 Volt regulator. Email me with what your
thoughts are and I will send you some ideas.
A company called Dimension Engineering makes some packaged 5 volt
regulators for $12-$15 each.

OK, the Digipower battery only gave me around an hour of record time with one recorder, so I went back to the drawing board.  I ended up purchasing a Tekkeon MyPower ALL:

http://www.tekkeon.com/site/products-mypall-specs.php

With one recorder, I can get over 12 hours of record time on one charge.  I don't have a second recorder to test two together, but I believe that you could get at least 4 hours using two recorders on one battery, unless the amperage of the two together is too much.

Tekkeon specs:
  • Weighs just 11.8 oz (330g)

  • Size is 3.28” (W) x 6.80” (L) x .92” (D)

  • Output current: 4A max

  • Rechargeable lithium polymer battery

  • 4 hour charging time

  • Supports multiple voltages
    (3, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 14V)

  • 36Wh output power

What if any adapter did you need for the Tekkeon?

Thanks!

Soon to be released on our site, a battery adaptor that will accept
any battery voltage from 4 vdc to 35 vdc. Simply hook up our adaptor
to your battery and plug it into the Neuros.
Any battery, size, voltage will work with our adaptor to power the
NR2 or 442.

I just ordered this battery (actually the next size up, the 3400).

You say it comes with the necessary adapter, that's great, but I'm curious how you were planning to run two recorders from one battery.  Do you have or know where to get a splitter that uses the appropriate power connector?  Or at least the power connector itself?  I can find one with the right dimensions at Digi-Key, but I suspect that it doesn't have the spring-loaded inner contact to securely grip the positive pin in the recorder's power jack.  Maybe it will work but if you know where to get a conenctor that defintely does, I'd like to hear about it.

I am using the Tekkeon MP3400 on my R2 now (onboard video for street use).  I calculate about 20 hours of recording time based on their 56WH rating, I have put over an hour on it and it has yet to show anything but full power level on the batter pack (8-LED gauge).
