We just added the last firmware upgrade on our site. This firmware will fix a recording bug (unit locking up after a recording), and the slideshow issues some of you have reported. Follow the instructions included. If you still have the firmware version 1.2.2, make sure you update to version 1.2.4 before installing this new firmware You will find the new firmare here http://neurostechnology.com/support/Support_442Updates.asp If you have any doubt about the update procedure, email us at support@neurostechnology.com or call us at 1 866 5 NEUROS. FJ, sorry i never really got back to you. I tested out 2.0 and it seemed to work fine. No bugs so far that i know of.

I've had this firmware(2.0.0) for few weeks already because Johan sent it to me and it still didn't fix the Green Screen of Death that I mentioned before unless the fw he sent was beta. My version still had no bookmark function or .srt subtitle supports.

Yeah, mine didn't bring me a cup of coffee and my slippers either.

I had this too, but is the beta the same as this one? And quit complaining about the features I'm sure they are very busy with the new version, so be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Right, I have version 2.0.0 but that was from something I got from Johan a couple of months ago. Wondering if I should re-do the firmware.

I want to make clear that the firmware upgrade I sent to a handful of people for testing is the same version as the one we posted in the support section of our site a few days ago. We always ask a few users to test our new firmwares (in addition to in house testing) before release.

So basically 2.0.0 has a couple of bux fixes and that's it? I don't mean to sound ungrateful but we've all been waiting patiently for a decent user interface for a while now. I'm losing faith in Neuros and starting to wish I had paid the bucks for the Archos.

The new interface and expanded features most have asked for are only going to be on the 442V2 Neuros discovered early on that the current 442 hardware would not really support the open source direction they wished to take. They then decided to put there time and resources into a new hardware platform that would support open source rather than attempt to port linux to the current 442. Neuros is offering reasonable priced upgrades to this new 442V2 when when it releases around early summer.

Well it would be nice if they threw us a bone and added a few features that require little if any additional processing power.
A few that come to mind are bookmarks in videos, elliminating the banner in video record feature so we can see what were are recording, and a personal pet peeve of mine fixing the mistake on the icons on the splash screen such that the camera is for video recording.

jscott1 you are right!!! To say that it has not enough power to change the user interface, it is the better way to make the 442 v2 more important! One interface is already in the 442 and it would nice if you could only change some visible problems an not the hole design with better quality so to say! And i would never pay an additional amount of money to get the 442v2 because there are so many concurrence out there that i can suggest you to go check it a little bit! There are so other marks bringing some nice stuff and i can say that they have nothing to do with the 442v2, so you can see what i mean with it ( they are really better )!

I didn't mean to imply the 442 does not have the power for a different interface. The feeling was it wouldn't support the open source model and the improvements Neuros wished to make. The current 442 is closed source and the design and firmware are owned by Eastech. Neuros or other companies that have purchased this Eastech PMP can choose to pay Eastech for further firmware development and improvements for the 442 Im guessing Neuros didn't think it was cost effective to pay for further improvements to the Eastech model and decided it was better to design there own more powerful hardware platform that would support open source. Im just a 442 owner like you and passing on the information I have learned from these boards.

im from spain and i own a zolid 920, that is just the same as your neuros 420. i did not get the oportunity to buy one of yours because ive just not found were to buy it. the thing is the firmware version i had was 1.3.5 and i updated it to your 2.00 and it works just fine, except for no real changes noticed. just that when i boot up it says i own a neuros except a zolid. does anyone know if there are more firmware releases coming?although i know i shouldent have the privilege because technically im not a neuros owner. thanks, and sorry if i made spelling mistakes[:p]
