I had a problem with my mp3 player. The other day it started turning on and off because the battery was low. I'm having trouble with the power connector and have to be careful how I plug it in. I forced the Neuros off by pressing the toggle up and pressing the play button. Next time I tried to power it on it went into diagnosis mode. I tired to do the NAND disk things. Both said "will take several minutes" and dropped back to NAND disk and Hard Drive screen, looks like they worked. I selected the Hard Drive option and did the format file system and format media options. Both of them failed "error 0xa860 press and hold play to reset". I plug the usb cable into my computer and it does reconginze it unless I press and hold the joystick in the down position and press play. It shows up as a removeable drive, I can copy files to it, I can reformat it. I copied the firmwire file to it and rebooted the system. It saw the firmwire file, did the usual update thing, but still will not work. Everything result in the samething. Unit turns on, acts like it going to boot up then fails to the diagnosis screen.

hmmm...and old fix used to be to give the neuros a little slap in case the HD was stuck.  that may do the trick.  if this does not work you might try and remove the faceplate and just let the backpack charge it overnight.  then plug the faceplate back in and try it again.

If all else fails, contact support.  It is easier to troubleshoot via phone or E-Mail.

Mark,

I was wondering if you ever got any resolution on this issue... I'm seeing something similar when trying to install a 120GB drive in my player, and I was wondering if maybe you got any insight that might be useful to me.

Please check out post: http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7149

Thanks!
