I saw a 4GB Compact Flash card (manufactured by PQI) on Ebay for about $130. Does anyone know if it will work with the Recorder 2?
Also, is there a minimum CF card speed the R2 needs? The 4GB PQI was a 100x speed, but there are 60x and 40x speed cards that are cheaper.

I'm already sold on the Recorder 2 but I need this info urgently to get a CF card that will work with it.

Well, I can't answer that question directly, but I can say that I just purchased and used a SanDisk 4 GB MS Pro Duo card without any problem.  They are selling for $130 from newegg or zipzoomfly.

My largest CF card is currently 2 GB and it works fine.

Transcent 8GB CF cards x120 work fine based on this post: http://forums.neurostechnology.com/smf/index.php?topic=7375.0

I don't know if that will be true for brands for sure though. If anybody has used CF cards of different brands, size and speed, please post something here and let us know what worked for you.

I use an 8GB Seagate microdrive (Photo- RED very important) and it works fine.  You have to get the photo, there are some CF microdrives that are for embedding into devices, those won't work.

Has anybody tried more 4GB CF cards? If so, let us know which ones worked and which ones were not recognized for the Recorder 2.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the Transcend 4GB CF 45x didn't work with the N2.

Hi, in the post that you linked to, will-powered wrote:

Well, I have answered my own question.  I purchased a couple of Transcent 8GB 120x CF cards.  First thing I did was plug the card into my computer and learned that the cards came pre-formatted in FAT32.

Plugged a card into the R2, and it worked perfectly.  The R2 could see all 8GB.  Did a test recording of 6+ hours on 640x480 super-fine last night.  Recorder still had 111 minutes worth of memory available.

Good news to hear.  But I went to the transcendusa website and they are giving me two choices for the 8GB card
TS8GCF120  8GB  120X Compact Flash Card (DMA Mode)
TS8GCF120-P  8GB  120X Compact Flash Card (PIO Mode)

I'm hoping will powered sees this post and can tell me which one he used, since he stated it worked.

But I'm also hoping someone can tell me the difference between (DMA mode)  and (PIO mode).

I just don't want to buy the wrong one.
Thanks!!

biking_brian,
I'm assuming since you posted in the  Neuros MPEG4 Recorder section, that it was for the recorder.  (yah, I'm not too embarrassed buy my stupid question ). LOL   and I'm also guess that N2 stands for the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder . LOL

I went ahead and ordered it from newegg.  Thanks for the recommendation, I should be getting it Monday.

Cheers!! Cool

Brian,
The 8 GB Transcend CF card arrived today as scheduled.  Basically came in 2 days via UPS.  Would have gotten it sooner, if not for the weekend.  Great service.  And 99 cents for shipping.  AMAZING!!!!!

Popped the card in the Neuros, recorded a test show, popped it in the reader, and bang, it worked perfectly.

Came ready to go right out of the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On fine quality, I can record 13+ hours.  SWEEEET.   since all I'm doing is recording one hour tv shows, this is perfect.

THanks for the recommendation!!!!!!!!!! Cool
