hiiia!!

ive just got hold of a zolid 920 bought in an aldi and it seems to me that its the same as your neorus 420. so here is the thing:
first, were the hell can i find a decent firmware update. because the last thing ive found on the net is from december 2005.
second, i also read somewere on this forum that you can change your neorus for a better one, with a hardware upgrade and so on. mine is exactly the same. with a 40 gb hard disk. and firmware version 1.3.5., so could i also upgrade mine?
one last thing, have any of you had any problems with your neorus, i mean faulty parts, or problems with the hard drive? also any tips you could give me would be cool.
             thanks! [Wink]

You can find the firmware updates here: http://www.neurosaudio.com/support/Support_442Updates.asp

Nope unfortunately you are not able to upgrade your zolid. Well, so problems with the 442 are on the forums you just got to look for them. [Wink]

I don't know if Eastech plans any firmware upgrades for the PMP they manufacture.
I suspect the are waiting for companies like Neuros, zolid, commadore and others who have purchased from them to pony up the money for firmware updates.
Neuros is moving to a new hardware platform with open source firmware
for the 442V2 so I would not expect they would provide Eastech the funding for firmware upgrades.
Maybe if were luck one of the other companies will step up.

Yeah, that could be, but that's real bad service for cients they offer then. The thing about neuros is that they say the product evolves, you get new firmware and such. But what if someone stays with his old 442 they can't get updated (much better) firmware.

They should not only think about more profit from people that return their 442 and buy a 442V2., but also about older customers that want a decent appliance.

Neuros says the product develops, so make it develop. Not all the people want to pay an other 100 euros for a second version. People want free software like promised. They should absolutely fun Eastech for new firmware or develop something theirself with the uclinux but for the first 442.

It's not going to happen -- Neuros has already made it very clear on these forums that they have NO plans to upgrade the firmware for the original 442.  I agree that it's not right -- particularly in light of what was promised during the gamma program -- but not much you can do about it other than return your 442 for a refund.
