What's needed to play the file recorded by the Recorder 2 on my PC running Windows XP with Windows Media Player 10?    It doesn't recognize the .mp4 files, and despite installing several codecs (divx, C724?, changing the files names to .mpeg, etc  I have not had any luck playing back 320x240 30fps files.   Do I need to record with a different resolution?   Download/install special codecs?

I've looked through many messages on this forum, read the FAQs, but did not stumble across this particular information.

Any help appreciated.

I'm going to answer my own question, for the benefit of others.

The secret sauce as the K-Lite Codec Pack.  You can get from here:

http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm

After installing the "Full" package, my .mp4 files will play in the included basic player, or in Windows Media Player.
