I received an N2 20Gb HD model as a Christmas gift last year (my wife takes good hints -- my relatives wanted to get me an iPod). I use it every day, and travel with it. On a recent trip, something damaged the display -- the left side cracked internally and LCD liquid sloshed around inside the display rendering everything but the right quarter unreadable.
I contacted Neuros Support about getting it repaired, and have been told they do not repair them -- I must simply buy a new one. A new brain costs $100.
So, does anyone have a used N2 brain unit they want to sell me?
I have to say, my overall experience with Neuros has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The whole open-source-that-closed, the various software quirks that never get repaired, the ongoing format-the-NAND-flash fix everytime it gets its knickers in a twist. This is not a consumer product -- normal people would be completely befuddled and exasperated with it. Only someone with hacker patience and understanding can keep one of these operational, and that only barely. I could not at this point recommend any of their future products (like the 442) based on my experience with the N2. |
