hi all.

i have purchuased neuros II an it just arrived yersterday (it's really BIG haha, i love it)
i have been around the forum for a while and have read it a lot.

but i have a question, and its about ogg files. some ogg skips. I don't know whats wrong 'cos i've read that with 2.28 firm it shouldn't happen. but well, it happens.

i want to know if it could be a codec problem or anything else.

firm is 2.28
codec files q-6
no neuroscast

maybe is the q-6? better q-5?

thanks!

The Neuros has a slightly under-powered DSP so at higher bitrates it has problems decoding ogg files. I have also heard that non-official encoder encoded ogg files and older ogg files have problems. The gt3 encoded files q5 and up are higher bitrate than standard q5 and up. I encode my files at q4(~128kbps) and they occasionally skip.

With ogg files, is it only a problem with tracks encoded with variable bit rate? Otherwise, the higher the quality, the less compression there is, and it would seem that there would be less load on the DSP.

VBR isn't a problem. Ogg Vorbis is VBR by default.

The processor works less when the quality is lower. If you are getting skips with q6, try q5.

I have many tracks with q6 and I don't notice a problem.

If you go higher in quality, you will get more skips.

You'll also have more skips when playing through NeuroCast instead of headphones.
