Well, does anyone have any clue why it takes so long after the recording? Is it recording to the flash memory and then transferring to the HDD after finishing?

presumably it's rebuilding the database somehow after adding that recording as any entry.

It takes so _long_ to do the following,
-- flush NAND cache back to HDD;
-- close HDD file;
-- add track into database;
-- create sync request;
-- update other related system information, DB changed, disk size flush etc.

I can confirm 2.26.1.6 freezes when updating the database after a recording. This will be sorted out on future releases.

I have experienced no problems with USB syncing, though.

Thanks GarBage. At least I know it's not just my device. Hopefully when that problem is fixed the synch issue will disappear as well, because they seem to be related for me.

Does the database actually update or will the file at least show up on the drive? Anyone not been able to recover a file? I haven't experienced this problem yet-everything has been normal (on line-in 44.1 wav, lengths 2 min - 3hrs.), but I'm concerned about losing future recordings.

GarBage- Thanks for all your work on this firmware. I'm much happier with my Neuros because of it.

That bug is only noticed when updating the database, after the file was saved. So, AFAIK, no choice of losing a recording due to that bug.

In fact, after failing miserably to update the recording database the Neuros flags itself as having a 'pending update operation', on subsequents boot-ups it'll try to recover from that pending operation and will fail again when updating the database. The current workaround is to perform a NAND format. Pretty annoying, i must say.
I located the bug, but ATM i'm not able to sort it out. I'll try and push my brains harder.

Thank you for testing and pointing out bugs, man.

Is any of the GarBage firmware being considered for inclusion in the official firmware?

I've reverted to GarBage's ver 2.26.13 and the freezing on recording saves seems to have gone away. I don't need timed recording anyway.

Voltage. On the HD backpack +/-417 is ideal max. If you want to change back to the battery icon, put on the lock, and hold down on the keypad while you unlock.

Hey guys,

I updated to this branch, but do not understand the modes of the HiSi-Button. Could someone explain them, or point me to a link?

THX very much,

Matthias

I just got my Neuros and this interface is annoying me to death. One of the great things about the ipod was the artist->album browsing. You can do this with the Neuros but it takes like 7-8 clicks. It would be really nice if albums was the first selection, then it would pop up a list of artists... you click the artist, click the album then click the song. Much easier than Neuros audio->scroll down->albums->artist->album->song.

Since what you seem to want is not really a hardware-complain, you should post it either in the forums of NDBM or sorune.
http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/
http://www.sorune.com/
I suggest sorune, since it has much more submenu-specials implemented and so I guess, Kevin is the one who knows most about it!
He will be able to tell if he could change it via the synch-manager or if it needs to be changed within the firmware!

Greets,

Matthias

The firmware needs to be changed before the sync-manager will support it. The Sorune maintainer has tried to change the database/browsing look-and-feel, but the firmware didn't let him. I believe GarBage is working on it slowly.
