A killer addition to the neuros would be a bluetooth interface, which would enable as a mere matter of software:

  • use of earbuds; use *as* an earbud to a mobile phone; use of bluetooth-enabled audio amplifiers

  • ad-hoc exchange of files with nearby neuros, if allowed by user

  • "audio presence" in which one neuro user could hear what nearby neuros are playing, if allowed by user. (Maybe hear more than one "mixed" with a control to select, and another control to attempt to download the file being played)

  • use of neuros as an audio output device for a bluetooth-enabled PC

  • recording of incoming bluetooth audio streams, be they phone calls or music

i'm with you I would love to see some sort of wireless feature on the Neuros. but more along the lines for use in file transfer with a computer, or another neuros.

Better yet. Make a small USB thing that plugs into the "brains" via the N2's Mini-B USB port. IT could be shaped to be flat against the bottom of the player with the HDD backpack or the Flash backpack. Inside the decice is a standard USB Bluetooth adapter, OR an 802.11b Wi-Fi adapter. Through this, you could have an interface where you could request read-only access to another neuros in the area and transfer files back and forth. the one person browses the other's library, and chooses a category (an artist, album, or whatever) to download. the request appears on the other neuros's screen as one of those pop-up yes/no boxes. the user can then wirelessly network transmit to the other device. OOOH.... 802.11b would also allow the neuros to find HiSi data without being connected to a PC... It could automatically do that whenever it found an unencrypted WiFi signal... It could also automatically sync with the PC when you get home, uploading recordings and downloading any new rips or tracks. So many possibilities.... And you could choose to share the HDD with WiFi/bluetooth enabled laptops in the area, and they could listen to your music, but limit the number of connections so that we don't overload the neuros's processor....

Soooo much better than even an IPod....
File Exchange, Bluetooth audio, WAIT-- possible features for N3?
