I've been away from the site for a while. I come back and there's a new wiki, new products, and bad news about the N2. I've done a bunch of digging around, but I'm still slightly confused about the new products. I know I definitely want ONE of them, but I'm not quite sure which one it is.
Can somebody please do a head to head comparison of the features/specs of the upcoming N3 vs the PocketPlayer vs the 442, including projected release dates and MSRPs? This should probably go on the wiki. I'm thinking a stabdard table-style list of features with checkmarks where they apply.
Also, since the 442 and the MPEG recorder have some crossovers, maybe a comparison of these, as well?
Finally, a little sales info about the MPEG recorder would be great to have on the main site. I don't know much about video, and I'm not sure what it is that I'm supposed to DO with that thing. Is it a Tivo competitor? Am I supposed to use it instead of the DVD-recorder I was thinking about buying? Is it programmable like Tivo so that I can have it record the Daily Show every night for me? Can I hook it up to both my cable box and my computer so that I can record directly to my hard drive instead of to a flash memory card? How does the highest bitrate encoding compare to that of a DVD?
Anyway, glad to hear there are new toys in the pipeline.
