This doesn't look so bad. Especially the battery life, but also the sd-card slot. But I would rather like to see Compact-Flash. And it transmits FM, records to ADPCM and PCM. Not bad, is it? And of course it does vorbis -q10, which is kind of overkill, but it's at least completely implemented.
If it has a good price, I definitely have a new player for my being on the track with the bike or per foot. :) Unless of course by then, the NIII is out. The choice wouldn't be hard! :)

it says suround sound...i have a pair of surround headphones and in my opinion for just listening to music...Stereo is better. The surround is nice for movies but sounds a little weird with just stereo music.
it might work differently though...
The dissapointment of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a cheap price... |

Keep an eye out for the Lexar LDP-800 also. It's very similar to the Hanbit XD501. Although it uses a standard SD card whereas this XD501 uses a mini SD card. These two are not the same, although most mini SD cards come with an adaptor to allow it to fit a normal SD slot.
Although recently I've been torn between getting one of these soon to be released flash based players or a Sharp Zaurus. With the Zaurus, I get CF and SD, a remote control on my head phones, and Linux which will decode just about any format known to man at this point. And if I really want to ramp up on space, I can always plug just my Neuros hard drive backpack into the USB connection and play from a much larger database of music, if a gigabyte or so of flash gets to be too limiting. This seems like, by far, the most flexible solution and will support just about every audio (and video for that matter) format possible. I just haven't taken the plunge quite yet though. |

heres another hot looking gadget http://joel.burslem.ca/iStation-i2-Review-2.html (text from engadget) An early review of Digital-Cube’s iStation i2 (value-pack, so no GPS) we told you about has been posted by tipster Joel Burslem in Korea. The i2 plays MP3, OGG, WMA (unprotected too), AAC audio formats and DivX, Xvid, MPEG4, and VOB video formats on its 3.5-inch screen. A former iPod user, Joel is well impressed by the Personal Media Player’s looks (”solid”), sound (”sonic treat”) and quality of video playback (”superb”). And unlike the earlier PMP-1000, music continues to play even while browsing the file manager to add new songs. Also of interest: he prefers the touch-screen navigation over the joystick — in-line remote over IR — and found the USB On-The-Go hosting function “cool” allowing a quick and easy dump of his digital camera files onto the i2. He did have some (initial) concern over sluggish startup times but these seem to have been addressed by a firmware update (v1.0.2) he found on Digital-Cube’s Korean site. Fingers still crossed we’ll see these MoFos drop ‘round these parts in early July.

At this point CF is probably on the down slope of product life. Canon, I think the last major camera maker to use CF, has switched to SD on recent models. The media prices have closed to roughly the same. The only advantage to CF is there are more things besides memory that you can get in that format (HD, networking, ...)
