While waiting for Neuros to come out with the N3, I bought a little 512 mb flash player from a Korean company called Wigo. I've been very happy with it, but there are a lot of things I'd like to see done better. In looking around at other flash players, this is about the best I've found: http://www.xdrum.co.kr/english/product/xd501/xd501_overview.htm
Seems to me like the flash player market is large and growing, and I don't see how hard it could be to port over some of the design from the N3 into a little flash player that could compete with the XDrum, only at a much more reasonable price than the $400 they're asking.
I like flash players for a lot of reasons: small size, lightweight, simple operation, and no moving parts. Someday, they'll have 40 or 80 gb flash drives (it's going to take a few years, but it will happen). In the meantime, I would gladly buy BOTH an M3 and a little flash player for different applications.
My flash wishlist: -Everything that the Xdrum has, only without the speakers (seem useless and gimmicky) and the high pricetag. I especially like the dual headphone jacks--that should be a standard feature on EVERY product Neuros makes. -Since there is a flash expansion slot, I'd be willing to give up the built-in flash to drop the price. 512 mb or 1 gig would suffice -I like to go on long (several weeks, when I can find the time) trips with no computer. That means I can't recharge the battery on my current flash player. I'd like to see a device offered with a choice of rechargeable or AAA battery. -All the open source goodness that Neuros does so well
How 'bout it Neuros? Any chance of this happening? |
