Ex-Navy, What kind of software, and hardware are you using to get the live streaming. My idea, see if it fits your application: Bullet cam to OSD, OSD to Bridge? then anyone with WiFi capabilities would be able to watch the video (within the signal area), I have it on a race car on a dirt oval track, all spectators are line of site. Thanks for the 5v power tip, very helpful. Forever greatful!

Customize your OSD
Problem: Soon the OSD will fill with Apps some people want, some don't, and the memory will fill up and become too confusing for most VCR/DVD users, with menus, sub,and sub sub menus.
Solution: Mail the basic model with simple VCR type operation internet connection. When recieving the OSD, go to web site, pick your needs, like a check box type menu. some people will want Tivo capabilities, some for security monitoring, wireless, server...... Each one of these would be its own module, so that us iliterate code types could check the box with options we want to install, once you load it too heavy, you need to delete an option to be able to load a different option. the code writers could then start to split to the applications that get the most attention, or in my case if I really need some code written specifically, I post $50- $100 to have a code guru whip it out for me in a night.
Suggestion: Have code writers with feed back of sucessful code written, as a code writer makes great code, they then can demand more for thier rating. Kind of like a ebay thing. As a customer I type what I need, they may correspond with questions, I pick the code I like thru a VM on the internet, the money goes to the code writer via paypal once I download it and I leave feedback.
Just ideas to keep it simple, but juicy enough for the gurus.

RE: wifi DWL-G730AP the router is 5v, so is the OSD, just parallel the power fron the 5v source. or did I miss the point?
Right now I have it plumbed with a cigarette lighter phone charger. Output 5 volts. 99 Cent store. and I tap 12v for my bullet cam. All works great on startup, and engine running of race car, the real test will be Sat. Vibration, Gs, dirt, dust, frequency's. Have a nice case, CD holder hard case fits perfect after cutting out the CD sleeves. The double tall version $20 at walmart. Cut holes with drill for cables, will be bonding on click tie studs for zip tie applications. sending pics when all installed.
I'm thinking more MIMo technology, it has a better video redudnancy, multi frequency, bounce capable, multi antenna, plus will be able to handle and crazy uncompressed video. blast it direct from the car, anyone in the croud can watch live with a PSP, Blackberry, laptop....you see where I'm going?
4.5V works for the OSD, just tested it. thats 3AA batteries in series, build in parallel more batteries for more capacity. scared to go 4AA thats 6V, this is my only OSD, and the budget can't afford mistakes, only in shpeelling.
Still need max voltage the OSD board can handle, more volts the less capacity I need to carry.

5v issue solution: Used cigarette phone adapter from the .99 store, puts out 5v's, tested and works great for auto, while running and during startup, no drop outs. Use EMI protective magnet on bullet cam to ensure video quality.

Onboard extreme sports recorder, would like 720x480 30fps. don't care about storage, just change out SD cards every 20min. race Maybe HD capable needed soon The next best thing is $1200, this is the best option I have found so far, bought it and testing capabilities, going offshore boat racing if auto testing goes well.

Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Physical Tolerances

Please post or ask questions about physical tolerances.
Q: I know 5VDC is required, what is the tolerance. Can I use a 6.9v battery? 9V battery?
Q2: Internal heat issues, is there any?, will it overheat if I encase in waterproof case with no airflow? Need heat sink?
Q3: anybody use it for an onboard? I'll be mounting it next sat on a dirttrack racecar, tested EMI, video looked good, I'm worried it might shake apart internally.

Whats your modifications? Physically what have you added, modified to make it better for your application.
My personal: Onboard recorder. With a cigarette cell phone 5V charger, fanny pack, and bullet cam, does great for any onboard extreme sports vehicles. When the green light is on, press the record button, red light comes on, you don't need a monitor!
Coming soon! wireless mimo technology, to transmit live video to anyone with WiFi, from the extreme sports vehicles. Any help on this would be greatful.

Please share your ideas on how you have tweeked/ modified your OSD to fit your application "Mechanically". IE antennas, mounting, power hookups, anything mechanical that you did that can jumpstart other great minds. Let's try to stay away from the software side for this forum, if you have a software that needs to be added to complement your mechanical modification, make a link.
I am planning to install as onboard camera recorder for extreme sports vehicles/surf/bike/run/aerial/skate, mods are underway, I'll keep you updated here! My imagination is going out of control, allow yours, here on this forum!
If allowed (I'm a noob) upload pics of the DIY's

Neuros World / General Discussion / Mechanical Parameters Q&A
|

General dissusion will be about the mechanical properties of the OSD. Lets try to stay away from software issues, unless it has a direct relation to something mechanical ie. certain codec needs more processing power which in turn creates more heat.
1. max operating temperature - How high can the system temp go before things start to toast. I am planning to encase in water proof case, will I need heat sinks, fans? Today running tests with temp probes for standard temps to see how much it generates on its own.
2. Power Tolerances - 5VDC in, what is the +- before things don't work right. Planning to rig on extreme sport vehicles, I do have a 12VDC to 5VDC (cheap cell phone charger), but as the engine revs the power could peak to 6/7VDC, as the engine starts the power could dip to 3/4VDC.
