1  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: neuros 2 for line in recording on: August 22, 2006, 10:13:10 PM
1) If you would like something now, you should buy it.  The Neuros III will not be out for a while... Q4 2007?
2) I have used the neuros to record many times. to boot the unit and then start recording it would take about 10 seconds total.  About 5 for booting and 5 to initialize recording.  I do not really see a problem with this, as I always start it early and edit the file later.  You can tell when it starts recording so not a big deal.
3)NDBM supports mac. you can get it here: http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/  It is not that technical to use, most people use it instead of the official software.

I have been happy with mine as far as recording.  The interface could use a little refinement, but similar recorders in musicians magezines cost 300-400 dollars and usually do not have a hard drive.

Are you still looking for someone or are you canning the idea? I sent you an email a little bit ago.
3  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / R2 Portable Battery Pack on: August 08, 2006, 09:33:52 PM
Wow, this is my 500th post...I feel old.

Thanks to Ex-Navy, my new website now has a tutorial on how to make your R2 a portable unit using a battery pack. And while your there, look around the site a little, give me feedback, and upload your project for the project of the month.  It does not have to be complicated, just interesting.

4  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Is the Recorder compatible with..... on: August 08, 2006, 09:29:03 PM
The Creative Zen Vision M supports the following video files:

DivX™ 4 & 55, XviD5, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4-SP, WMV9, Motion-JPEG

The recorder 2 records MPEG4-SP with AAC.  So the video works fine, I am not sure if the Zen supports AAC audio.

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4 the AAC audio is a spec. on MPEG-4. So if the Zen says it plays MPEG-4 it should play this.

You might want to call creative on that one though.  Can anyone else shine any further light on this?

5  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: LG 8100 phone on: August 08, 2006, 09:19:23 PM
yes, your phone plays video files that are .3gp  The recorder 2 has two settings that are .3gp, they are 320x240 - 3gp and 176x144 - 3gp.

No, not at the moment.  Sorry I answered your question incorrectly.

7  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: Problems with charging and the AC plug on: August 03, 2006, 11:12:27 PM
It is probably a loose solder joint as you expected.  Take it apart and look at the board where the AC plug is connected, does the solder joint look ok?  Is it loose?  If it is, and you have some soldering skills, just repair the joint, this is fairly easy to do.

If this is not the case, your plug could be bad, in which case you would need to send it in for repairs.

email me if you have any questions

All hard drives have some shock protection, the level depends on what brand it is.  I would NEVER recommend dropping a hard drive.  No hard drive that I know of can sense when it's being dropped (that would be very hard to implement).  Although, most hard drives will shut down after being jolted as a safety measure.

a lot of people use NDBM(Neuros Database Manipulator).  it works pretty good and you can use it on any computer.
get it here: http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/

I will keep looking for NSM (the official program) for you.  If I find it, I will post it for you.

if you get this working, you should submit it as a monthly project here:

A few of the next generation products will use the board that is being developed for the OSD.  So the work that is being done now will greatly speed 'time to market' of later products.  The 442v2 software was being worked on and talked about a lot before the OSD came about.  It has been put on the back burner until the OSD is up and running a little more.

The 442v1 exchange is still valid.

I cannot give you a schedule right now, but maybe Joe can.

There is a new neuros custom site that has a review on the OSD, it has screenshots, firmware, and other stuff. This is a site for custom applications and should help bring the community togeather a little more. check it out here:

you can put in another hard drive. I think there are previous conversatins about this, so search the forums and see what you can find.  if you strike out, email me and ill see what i can dig up.

hmmm... I am not really sure.  I would check the new power plug you soldered into the neuros and make sure it is EXACTLY the same.  If it is, then I am not sure what may be causing this, since it charges fine.  Neuros may have some extra connectors or blem units they could sell you cheap if you needed a new power plug in.

to make this problem easier to solve, you should first go out and find a  program called "Gspot".  This will load up your created video files and tell you exactly what codecs they were created with and give you all the specs.  Then we should be able to tell whether its a codec problem or something else.
