Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: HD wont mount

hmmm...and old fix used to be to give the neuros a little slap in case the HD was stuck. that may do the trick. if this does not work you might try and remove the faceplate and just let the backpack charge it overnight. then plug the faceplate back in and try it again.

no set date on new hardware availability. the 442 is a good solid player, but it could use some more software updates. it will play most any video file you throw at it without missing a beat. Dont really know much about the Archos 500, but they make decent players. If i were you i would compare the features, and if you dont need one right away, wait for the next version of the 442. its going to be good.

Whoever fixes it will have to know how to solder, and should have some experience. (but maybe not if you are a quick learner). How dangerous this is depends really on your skill....if you go to resolder one little pin and end up getting solder all over the board...that could be bad. although, since your board is already broken, you cant really break it too much more with this repair unless you are totally careless. I would think that Neuros would still do it if you could not. As long as you do not do any more damage to the unit....and when you were done...ahh....ahh...make it look like you never tried to do it yourself....i would guess it would be fine.
if you are really in need, i would take a look at it for you and see if i could fix it. The turn around time for me would be quicker than sending it in to Neuros...but depending on whats wrong...i may not be able to fix it.
if you have any more questions feel free to send me an email.

I know how to do the antenna reception mod and would be willing to do it for free...(less shipping). I could take a look at your other little problems too, might be a loose solder joint or something. you can take a look here first to see if it is something you can do yourself. http://lupavista.org/neuros/this will void your warantee, but if done carefully will not affect your unit at all. even if you botch the job, the only thing you lose is reception. here are some other posts talking about the mod: http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6053&SearchTerms;=antenna,modhttp://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3628&SearchTerms;=antenna,modif you are not sure, or have any more questions, just pop me an email. Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: Failed to reformat HD!

reformating the nand will only delete files if you have the files on the flash part of the device (faceplate) if you dont use the faceplate and the smaller backpack then you dont have to worry about anything getting deleted. The message they give you is kind of scary, but if you just clear the nand, you wont lose anything on the hard drive (note: if you format the disk, you will lose everything.)

Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Re: Missing Memory

one thing you may want to try is this: if you delete files off the 442 when it is plugged into the computer...you have to empty the recycle bin before you unplug the device. otherwise the files wont show up but they will still be there.
just an idea.

i dont think it would be very expensive (less shipping). It sounds like a resolder is needed. You might be able to take it apart yourself and look at it if you have a T6 screwdriver. if you can see the problem (such as a solder) you may be able to fix it. otherwise you should send it in.
REPAIRS ARE STILL OFFERED AS FAR AS I KNOW.

there is no am/pm selection. so i am guessing that it is stuck to 24hour. I actually prefer this once i got used to it.

sure, its easy. go to neuros audio -> songs -> and then start playing any song. if you have it on random, it will randomize every song on your neuros. if you have it on sequential, it will still play every song, just in order.
likewise, if you went to artist, or album instead of songs, it would randomize only the songs by that particular artist.
