Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - Feedback and Discussion / Re: What do you think of the 442v2 concept?

Short and simple - build a fully functional 442V2, linux based, slick design, let users either upload custom apps developed by others, or designed on their own. Sell them the slick hardware that is at the forefront, cool apps and let them take it from there. Give them something to talk about.
Take a look at the Nokia 770 and Maemo.org, a web template, considered by many as ugly and slow, linux based, but many many buyers happy with its open source philosophy.
On another note:
Too many places to search for information. When we do have time to contribute, I find I could spend hours just trying to navigate around Neuros forums, wikis, blogs, bugzillas, google groups just to find out where one can get the newest information or even where to post it.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Using neuros with motorbike battery

Hi Dave, This unit is very interesting, actually I just bought one online. I understand that the PSP adaptor is the same as the Neuros MPEG4 recorder, so, when I get this unit I will certainly test it. Excellent price, only $19.99 and $5.35 shipping to Canada. You are right, running the R2 from "in car" 12v accessory sockets creates problems caused by alternator noise. My bullet cam really picks up the alternator noise even after putting a heavy filtering capacitor across the 12V lead. Also, the supplied Neuros cables are not shielded good enough. I have gone with double sheilded custom ones. I have been using a commercial 12volt battery as shown on Dereks site: http://www.firelikethis.com/r2battery.htmlThe battery is very small, is housed in a very tough ABS plastic, and fits inside a cellular type belt pack. It is the same size as a credit card. The nice thing about this battery is 12vdc. All bullet cams run on 12V, just add a 5V regulator and you can power the R2 at the same time. A good weekend custom project. Dereks site is a good place to watch for.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Auto recording without a remote

Hey Dhaynes, The DC/DC converter can be purchased from www.medusaproducts.comIt is a 5V BEC circuit. RC hobbyists call it a BEC (battery eliminator circuit) as it eliminated an extra battery for additional 5v circuits in a RC plane, etc. The 5v BEC supplies enough current to easily power the R2 recorder. The supplied power cord can be removed and replaced with a 2 lead adaptor of any type. Connecting the R2 is done by soldering a connector to the output. We found a nice little 12 V battery that can be put in a cellular belt clip for use on the recorder. I will put up info about it and where one can buy a belt clip. We bought ours from Bass Pro fishing stores. It works like a charm. As for the remote Ir circuit, user Bazamataz will be putting together a list of materials, suppliers and schematic for building an Ir circuit. We will publish soon. Any help you need, send an email directly; info@olson-engineering.com

I think MrChyles has something there. It worked with people here, at the University of Toronto.
Imagine, OSD lab projects for the computer science student..........
You supply the hardware platform, the projects are endless, all those unexplored minds.........

Hi Mongrello, Thank you for you inquiry. Yes the circuit will have a box to allocate it. Barry and I are working on a unit that will house the Ir cct and the recorder. We have worked with the idea of a neon plexiglass case. Yes it can come with a cable and button. The cct has a DB9 serial connector, any 9 pin Db connector can be modified to be used. The circuit also supplies 5 volts for the recorder and 12 volts for a camera and/or microphone.
The board will have a Neuros type power connector The circuit can be supplied with an additional 4-35 volt BEC circuit which will accept any voltage in that range.
Yes it will be possible to order from Italy.
We are working on pricing now that the prototype has been designed and built. This circuit will be used commercially to produce recreational, security, datalogging, devices.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Video Quality

Video quality is also greatly reduced by poor cables, especially poor grounding at the PCB end. You could have poor solder joints at your board level. Reading both your comments about poor quality, have either changed your cables? If so, the cold solder joint is most likely. Tiling, skewing, is a typical observation of this problem. Our recorder systems were measured (spatial registration, valid region estimation, system gain and level offset, temporal registration)and received good marks.
Our Neuros systems are very close to DVD quality.
