And I am sure you had to know what our responce would be [)] While I cant give out numbers, we expect to be sold out of N2s within the next few months. As an aside, we will continue to offer support for all versions of the Neuros DAC.
As a follow up, I will post the reformat NAND instructions. This should fix your problems.
Turn the unit off by holding up on the joystick and pressing the Play button. With the unit turned off and no cables attached, press and hold the 1 preset button, the 5 preset button and the Play button at the same time. You should boot into Diagnosis mode.
Right click on NAND (this is the internal flash chip on the player). Right click on Revive Bad Blocks disk and click YES when asked if you want to continue. Reviving Bad Blocks or Formatting the NAND will not affect the music on your hard drive.
After the Revive Bad Blocks step is complete, select Format NAND. Click YES. When this step is completed, left click to return to the Diagnosis Menu. Select Exit.
If you opened the player up and soldered it back down but you still only get one channel it sounds like the pads are broken off of the board. If you open it back up, are the pads on the player board that the headphone jack's legs attach to still connected to the board?
We do still support all Neuros DACs. If you would like to send it in, please email us at Support@neurostechnology.com and we will be more then happy to fix you up. Derek sounds like he nailed the problem, a loose headphone jack. A simple resoldering should be all that you need.
Also, I would recommend that when you charge the unit disconnect the player from the backpack. This will give you a stronger charge over all. And like powderific said, massive amounts of skipping cause the HD to spin which in turn leads to decreased battery life. Have you tried making playlists on your unit to decrease the amount of fast forwarding?
At this time we do not know specifics on the size of the N3, but we will not be making any larger compacity N2 units. Once we are sold out of the 80GB the N3 will be the next MP3 player we make.
