When I record I get a thin black line on one or both
sides of the screen from where the picture ends
and the side of the screen.  Picture and sound are
otherwise fine.  I recorded a few movies before
this started to happen.  Is it a setting?
Anyone run into this problem?

Thanks.

What source are you recording?  Television, VCR, something else?
I ran into something similar when I recorded my old Star Wars Betamax tape.  I think it had more to do with the "tracking" adjustment than anything else.
If you are recording from a VCR I would suggest you look for the tracking control and see if you can eliminate the problem with that.

I had the same problem only when recording from a VCR.
I moved the input video cable to the recorder a few times and it disappears.

I'm recording from the cable box.
The cable goes from the cable box through the recorder
to the tv.  I'm going to check the cables again.

Hi, I'm having the same issue.  I just got the recorder 2 and so far there are black bars that appear at the side of my recordings.  I don't know if it is related, but I noticed the Neuros splash screen also does not fill the tv screen left to right because it is shifted to one side. This leaves a black bar during the power on splash screen. I don't know if that is normal. I'll try different sources later today.

Thanks,

Here is a sample of what it looks like.  I tried with my camcorder and my DVD player and I get the same results--two thin black lines.

I downloaded and then updated the firmware. I now have V02.00.0019 it did seem to make a small difference to the left bar... It is slightly smaller.  When I get to school on Monday I'll see if I can upload another video clip to show the difference.  I tried other souces and cables so that is not a problem.

In testing, I found full screen video for TV recording does not have the bars and the small 172 size does not either.  Just the 320 by 240 size has the problems.  The bars show up on the tv and when played by the computer.  Is it normal to have the splash screen skewed to the side so there is a black bar on the left side?

Thanks,
Eric

My mistake, after checking, the full screen mode does have the black bars.  It just was hard to see them on the tv with the darker scene I had recorded--on the computer they are quite visible.  The small 172 size, however, does not have the bars on the sides.  I really would like to get this fixed.  The new school season is starting and I would like to use the recorder to simplify how I use video for my classroom as well as my swim team.

Thank you,

Here is another video clip showing the black bars again.  This is after the update.
