Can the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 support a regular IDE hard disk? (with an adapter from Advantech and external power supply, of course)

I've read a lot of "ATA vs TrueIDE" replies, but nobody mentions what the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 supports...

a CF spec.

Hard disks work in ATA mode, CF cards/microdrives can work in ATA or TrueIDE... (if I understand you correctly).

But what does the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 supports? Has anyone else tried to use the adapter I mentionned above to connect a hard drive to his Neuros?

Not sure if this will help or just confuse the issue more.

However I have a 2.2gb Microdrive that works fine in my Neuros II, but does not work in various digital cameras and other devices I tried it in.

I wonder too.
If Pin 9 of the 50 pin CF connector on the R2 is grounded, then the R2 supports True IDE mode. (just the connector)

The adaptor you are asking about converts a 50 pin CF to a 44 pin ATA/IDE.
Two things determine compatibility, CF 50 pin configuration and IDE device used.

If the 50 pin CF slot on the Neuros is configured this way:

http://www.interfacebus.com/CompactFlash_True_IDE_pinout.html
maybe it will work........
