Just a silly thought I was having, but why not adjust the default gain to something more audible so we don't have to go through all this nonsense? (also eliminate the secret code, but that's been said a hundred million times already, so I'm just being redundant )

The reason not to is that too much gain causes clipping of the waveform. In keeping it user adjustable a person can make the gain as high as possible without clipping.

So when are we going to see this as an option that gets saved after you power-off? We've got an equalizer... maybe it should go in there as a 6th bar?

It would be nice to have a way to turn it on and off through the Xi menu though.

Edit:
I got to thinking a bit more about this and it might be a good tradeoff to have an option that toggles what happens when you hold down a preset button between setting a preset and adjusting the gain.

i.e.:
Settings \ Presets \ Hold Function:
- Set Preset
- Adjust Gain

and the preset list could still be available in another menu choice:
Settings \ Presets \ List Presets

Order Number: 2249

Thinking even more about this has led me to believe that the optimal solution is a menu-based toggle that switches the scroll up/down function between changing the MyFi frequency and the gain.

I envision the menu laid out similar to the "MyFi Mode" Xi menu... Just a simple selector between:
  • MyFi Frequency
  • Gain adjustment

What do you all think? Agree/disagree

Seems like a lot of you agree!

If implemented this way, the level could be indicated just as the volume level is currently when not using MyFi; I don't think it would have to be visible all of the time... Should be able to tap up or down on the rocker switch to show the current gain level.

It would, however, be nice to have a numerical representation somewhere on that little dialog.

Thanks - I guess I didn't make myself clear, but what I meant to say was that I tried the sequence both in the song menu and while a song was playing, but no gain indicators appeared.

In FM Radio mode the same key sequence shows you battery voltage, I was just pointing out that the sequence works as intended in one mode but not in another.

it took me a few attempts to get it, but while playing a song, do the sequence and you'll see a "(0)" next to the MyFi frequency. Once you see that, start pressing up or down on the presets. :)

HI, I also have firmware 1.38 and still can not make this key sequence work in songs menu. The key sequence seems to work in FM radio.
What is the trick here. Is there a special 'timing' for pressing the key in sequence or what?
I tried in song menu, while a song is playing, etc, but nothing works.
Please explain...

Thanks

Well, you do need to be playing a song in MyFi mode to see it work.

HI,

Well, I said I also tried in song menu and still could not make it work.
Wjat I was asking is if there is a special timing to type these keys.
Do you need to type quickly, slowly, or what?
Just to make sure I understand correctly, the song menu is when the display shows all the songs in the nit, right?
Then if I click down, the selection goes down one line, then rew, ff, down again. I don't see anything changed.
Then I play a song, press down, I see the MyFi freq, but nothing about the volume.
What Am I doing wrong??

The correct sequence is "down, RR, FF, up, down" in the songs menu. After that just play a song and you will be able to adjust the gain in MYFI

I finally found out the Gain in the MyFi.. it's in the lower left corner between paranthesis (hard to see compared to the other one)
But when I do the combo in the FM mode I get 2.7Mhz... in big letters and a beeeeeep sound... what's that? no voltage.

Also I think it'd be great to have those features without secret codes... and another feat i'd like to see is the battery meter as long as the screen... to see more precisely the amount of power i have left... It should't be that hard to do...
Who's with me on this one?

I would also like this to be changed so that it is not only easier to access, but also so that it stays on power-off. doing this every time i want to use the unit is very combersome.

artur83 that number 2.7 is the voltage and the beep is normal. instead of a really long battery meter it may be best to have the option to display it as a percent.

I just started playing around with the gain control in 1.45 and I was happy to find out that the gain level is persistent even when I power it off. And then I was disappointed to find out that the gain is disabled when you don't have the gain control itself on.

I use the Neuros in my car almost exclusively--and it's great because I can just turn it on, hit the preset button for the last playlist I was listening to and I'm good to go. But it's completely impractical to turn it on, enter the code, go into playlists and select a playlist every time I get in the car.

Is there any chance that a firmware release in the near-future would keep the gain where I set it regardless of whether I am in gain control mode?

I just tried many times to set the MyFi's gain but it doesn't work. My firmware version is 1.45. I bought this Neuros a few days ago. I'd like to know if I have to press some buttons together. I'm doing as a sequence.

Thanks.

Are you sure you're doing it in the songs menu?

One more time for all the kids at home.
First, how to get into the Songs menu:
Power on, press right twice (once to go into Neuros Audio, and once to go into Songs).

Now, press down, release, press RW, release, press FF, release, press up, release, press down, release. It doesn't need to be done fast like the old konami codes for the Nintendo, just take your time. Now, without the headphones plugged in, play a song. The MyFi frequency will show up in the lower-right corner, as it always does, but there will be a little (0) next to it. This is the gain adjustment. Pressing Preset 1 will increase the gain by 3, pressing Preset 2 will increase it by 1, pressing preset 4 will decrease it by 1, and pressing preset 5 will decrease it by 3.

Also, this key combo isn't going to be needed in Firmware 2.0. The gain is adjustable through an XI menu, and the setting persists through reboots.

kronin is right, I have 2.21 and it is accessible as "MyFi Gain" in the menu u get when clicking right in the now playing screen when broadcasting. U lose the DJ Functions though (i don't know if those were included in previous versions, i just bought mine; but when im not broadcasting they are in that menu)

The only problem is that my MiFi won't turn on half the time - but thats a subject for another forum.
