121  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Re: No Video showing w/ input or output on: September 25, 2005, 03:55:47 PM
Mark-

I had the same problem the first time I tried to output video as well, sound but no video. JEFFH gave you the right tip: make sure your cables are well connected and play with them a little bit. New ports are often tight, which could explain your problem.

Let us know if that solves your output issue.

JEFFH is right, you should look into getting the developper board. As Joe mentionned in another post, you should not crack open you current 442. [Wink]

Once you feel like you have played with the 442 for long enough (In a week or two), feel free to post a review on our Wiki. You can always edit your comments (we won't). We created a section for quotes and reviews from our gamma testers. (once you full name whenever you can, if you prefer not to, firstname and first initial of your lastname will do).

The hard drive was most likely still spinning. You can not really hear it unless you put your hear on the back of the machine.

Ben-

You might have seen this already but it is really worth saying it again. Check out this link on our wiki. One of our beta tester wrote it a few weeks ago: http://www.theneuros.com/index.php/HOWTO:442

We all wish there was a well defined video standard, especially us, it would make our job much easier. Being able to play most popular video formats is a challenge since many videos can be encoded several times, and there are many different codecs available. We really feel like we have the right community and the right player to figure that out though. This is why the 442 has a dual core CPU. With that type of power this baby is ideal to get the job done.

I also asked a few of our members to add section to this HOW TO page. Please feel free to add anything you deem worth sharing.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am not able to answer all the questions, but I can assure you that someone will. As for problems with Xvid, you can take a look at the beta tester thread: http://neurostechnology.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6399

There is also another more recent thread under feedback and discussion.

As for the unit that had prints ?!?! what the hell! I really don't know what happen there but we will look into it.

Thanks again for the feedback and remember to edit the wiki as well. I am sure your feedback will help others greatly.

442 Support Instructions

At Neuros, we are committed to offering you the best support possible and have several tools available to assist you.  To have your questions answered or to most efficiently troubleshoot your problems, please use the tools below in the order shown.

Go to the 442 user’s manual for detailed instructions.  A regularly updated  version of the manual is available at http://neurostechnology.com/pdf/NEUROS442%20User%20Manual.pdf
You can also find the original version of the manual on the CD included with your unit.

If your problem isn’t solved after consulting the User’s Manual, please consult the Neuros 442 FAQ on our official website: http://www.neurosaudio.com/support/442Productsfaq.asp

Note:  We will update the on-line User’s Manual and the FAQ’s from input given by our users on our Wiki and forums (see below).

If your problem still isn’t solved, consult the FAQ, troubleshooting section, and other information about the 442 (reviews, quotes, glossary etc) on our “Wiki” (see below) at http://www.theneuros.com/index.php/Product_Description:The_442 .  We recommend you start by doing a keyword search for the quickest and easiest way to know if someone has already addressed your topic.

Note: Our Wiki is a user-controlled Neuros-centric web site.  This means you can edit it yourself to posts questions, provide answers, give opinions, etc.  It also means it is more up-to-date but also more raw than our official site.  Beyond using it to find answers to your own questions, we encourage you to go ahead and spread your wisdom to your fellow Neuros owners. Go ahead and try it.  It’s easy and a really great tool to share your knowledge.

If your issues still haven’t been addressed, the Neuros Forum has one or more threads dedicated to 442 support issues.  As on the Wiki, you can look for info about your topic on the forums using keywords.

Note:  It’s in everybody’s best interest for us to keep the forums organized, and the number of topics reasonable.  Before you post a new topic, please review the current threads to avoid redundancy.  You will find that there are some savvy technical folks who have already posed a lot of helpful information.

If you’re still not getting any satisfaction, please email us with your problem at support@neurosaudio.com.  You can also usually get an actual (and helpful) human voice if you call toll-free between 9 AM and 5 PM Central Time at:  866-5NEUROS.  If no one answers, please leave a message with your number, and we’ll get back to you.

Pete-

Thanks for the feedback. I posted answers in other threads where you will find info you might find useful (with the pseudo FJ). You actually use a keyword search (my pseudo or any keyword for that matter)to figure out if some questions or issues have already been discussed.
As for the files you converted, gasp! Uncool. But you will find a software (Ulead) on the CD to convert your files into DivX (yeah again, sorry man, but it should work out fine).

Keep the feedback coming, we are listening and will make sure we address the flaws that are reported.
