1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Olson news ? box? on: November 09, 2006, 10:04:38 PM
Hi Mongello,

The circuit on the site is sold as an OEM model. It is meant for customizing your own enclosure.
Some of these are tested by companies that wish to use the Neuros recorder for their final product.

We custom make what you need. Send us your requirements and we work with you to build your ideal system.
Our system is an add on to the Neuros recorder.

We have had alot of interest from personal users and are developing a completely enclosed circuit that
may be strapped to the front of the recorder that will protect the CF card, hold the Ir circuit in place and
provide an on/off record switch.

The 9 pin connector you see in the specifications is the actual input and outputs to the Ir command module to
supply all voltages and audio/video into and out from the R2.

The Ir circuit that is on the webpage can be connected directly to a 12Vdc motorcycle system, however it is
recommended to also put a filtering capacitor in place to reduce the electrical noise.

This circuit, the enclosed box, the power supply, the microcomputer design is a unique project.
Barry and I will provide more information as it becomes available.

You can send your questions/desires/comments directly to info@olson-engineering.com

Have you noticed the forum pages do not respond very quickly anymore?

It is like an old 14400 dial up connection?

Your opinion??

Yes the NMR can be used without connecting to a TV.
Yes it can be operated with a Power ON and Record circuit (additional to the NMR)
Yes it can be operated on batteries (with the proper barrel connector and regulated battery supply)

I fully agree with you both, I did not quote Red and white respectively, just stating they are audio
Trying to help to see if it is a cabling problem or an input problem

Auto record circuit has been tested and small modifications have to be made. Mainly how to house the unit.

The Splash screen on "boot up" as seen on a 42 inch Plasma:

Heres a digital pic of the Home menu:

The settings menu:

The recording menu:

and the preview screen, transparent over the top of the DVD video.

Taken with a Kodak digital. Much better resolution in person.

I think you have a mis-wired cable.
Red is usually right channel audio.

See if you're yellow will pass audio by plugging it in to either red or white.

Someone fell asleep at the factory..........or................disgruntled employee

Hey Rara,
Thats a cool idea.
Check out what Will powered just sent us:

 http://www.miata.tv/vidproj/

His complete install project with 2 R2 recorders, two cams, all wired inboard, our Ir circuit to start both recorders.
He used Trackvision software, Picture in Picture seen here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmtIKVFEXQI

No Audio during this race. Minor troubleshooting as this install is the first of it's type with 2 Neuros units.

The audio from the radio can be wired in pretty easily. I recommend removing the 2.5mm AV board connectors and
replacing with 2 BNC connectors. The radio audio can be pigtailed from the helmet to a quick disconnect on the front
panel. The R2 has line level in for audio

How are you mounting the cameras??

That's a good idea dongle. Very good. I just purchased one.

For users here in N. America, you can find a similiar unit here:

13  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Bullet cam question ver 2.0 on: September 26, 2006, 09:36:51 PM
Hey Mxracer95,
I noticed the same thing and it turned out to be my camera. I have a Sony Exview and noticed what you described,
especially at nite. It really shows pixels.
I got another bullet cam, (generic Taiwan manufacturer) for $90 and it has crisp images even at night. It is wider in
diameter.
I replaced the camera cable with double shielded and got even better results.

The Taiwan cam has a lower lux rating than the Sony Exview.

Maybe that helps, good post by the way, on the 12V pc supply, I never thought of that.

Hi gallafent,

We had the same type of problem.
Since you have camcorders, try replacing the AV cables on the R2.
They are the same as a camcorder AV cable. If it not the input AV cable, the connector may have a cold solder joint.

This is what caused our problem in a racecar.
