Dongle answered all your questiosn I believe.

We indeed have our hands full with the OSD but will keep supporting Recorder 2 users. We commented on the 2h recording limit quite a few times in different threads, but long story short, it is a compromise that we had to make based on the hardware and decoding quality of devicesvideos will be viewed on (the bigger the file the more demanding it is on the chipset, even for a simple playback, that is however changing as all portables are now using more powerful chipsets and have more memory). I will ask again whena new release will be ready for the R2 and get back to you as soon as I have some news.

No, once a card is full, the recording is stopped. The only way around this issue would be to have a big enough CF card (8GB cards are out already), although it might not be an acceptable solution for you.

I believe the Auto Record feature will work out fine for what you are trying to accomplish, unless I am missing something. Once set on Auto Record, the R2 will record anytime it detects a video signal and stop when the signal is off. If any Tivo, DVR user can comment, please go ahead as I don't use such a setup.

My bad the resolution should indeed be 480x384.
Here is my setup and recording parameters:
PSP (Firmware 2.80) on USB mode connected to OSD via USB cable
MP4 Video, AAC Audio, 320x240 (352x288), USBDisk1
I use a 1GB Sandsik MS Pro Duo Card.
Recordings made from a cable box and a DVD player.
I also tried to change the name of a file from OSD **-**-**.MP4 to M4V*****.MP4 and it worked. I put the file in the 101MNVo1 Folder.
I will try a few more things and get back to you if I figure someting else this WE.

I'm thinking to purchase the recorder so I can use it as a blackbox in my car.
If that would work, it would be fantastic.

The auto record feature is great for that since the recording can start automatically as soon as I turn on ignition.

However, I will need the recordings only occasionally, whenever an accident was recorded.

Is the unit capable of automatically deleting the oldest record when the card is full in order to make room on the media ?
That could be done either on startup, either on memory full event.

Having had to build an IR control system for the R2 I can guarantee that there will not be any other device in the world that can control the R2 in this manner.

However you could achieve this (rather crudely) by either using an IR reciever to control a device to connect the video signal to the R2. The "resume recording when signal present" function now works with the latest firmware upgrade. Or (more elegantly) convert the IR signal to a "record" code to send to the R2.

Neither option is particularly easy. For more info regarding the remote protocol etc see my notes at:

1. In my opion the video quality is good considering the price of the R2. On a small screen such as a PSP it will be excellent.

2. Not sure what you mean.

3. Yes it is worth the money, you will have to pay substantially more for higher resolution, screen etc.

4. IGb will give you around 1 hour at best quality settings. I believe (search posts) that 8Gb cards have been used. Just be aware of the 2 hour recording limit per session. This means that on continuous record there will be a gap of a few seconds between files as the 2 hour point is reached. This will be annoying when recording a long film so you need to stop/start recording at a suitable point.

There are probably more comments about this "feature" than anything else on the forum and to date Neuros have not shown any signs of sorting it. I personally doubt that we will see any more bug fixes on the R2 as neuros have probably got their hands full with the OSD.

Neuros - any comment on this ?.

5. You do not need "pro" for anything. It refers to the R2 being able to use Sony Pro Duo memory modules.

I am thinking of buying this for watching tv shows and videos on my 1 or 2 gb memory stick, and also on tv with a dvd player and want to know some things.
1) How good is the quality?
2) Does it record video straight to a dvd for playback on a tv?
3) Is it worth the money or is there somthing better out there?
4) I have a 1 gb and was wondering if a 2gb was neccicery (please tell my soon because I have to know by tonight)
5) I also just read somthing about how you need pro for somthing, and was wondering if it was required for a memory stick pro duo 1gb
Thanks

There are problems if playback mpg files at present( 3.26-0.29),the problem is same as your description. It's not relevant with using USB or SD cars.
This problem will be fixed later.
