Soldering the jacks is not enough. I fixed mine permanently by sticking some super glue under the jack before soldering it. Only then the connection to the board is firm enough.

Thanks, I am looking at other players as well, but the Neuros II 80Gb for that prize can't be beat.
I am really used to it's database based upon the id3-tags. I've got all music catagorized in many playlist and love using the MyMix option to create new playlist. I'd hate to give all that up. There must be some way to get my hands on a new (or second hand) NeurosII 80Gb? |

I recently purchased a Cowon/iaudio X5L 30GB player and I like it quite a bit. It doesn't have an FM transmitter, but it can do everything else the Neuros can and the FM reception is quite a bit better. The "L" versions of the player have a bigger battery, but there isn't one in a 60GB version like there is in the non-L version. I can only guess that maybe the drive is thicker. The player doesn't use a database so you're stuck with directory browsing (unless you use rockbox firmware which does have a database option, but voids your warranty). Anyway, that's my recommendation until Neuros Audio comes out with a new, better player.

I tried ordering a complete Neuros II 80Gb from American Techpushers and was thrilled when I saw it listed on their site for only $270. But unfortunately after sending in my order they replied it it could no longer be ordered from Neurosaudio and removed it from their products page.
Can I still buy a complete Neuros II 80 Gb (or any disk size available) from one of the retailers? |

Quote Clearly people are upset that we failed to deliver a 442v2 in a timely basis.... At that point you'll have had use of the 442v1 for over a year and you'll be able to return it for a full refund. It wouldn't be so bad if I actually had use of my 442 for a year. Mine locked up 6 months after I bought it. And I was in denial that I had actually lost all my files on the harddrive that were not backed up. I finally sent it in for service and my harddrive was of course wiped out and when I got it back it still doesn't work properly. When I try to record a video from the line in, sometimes it works fine and other times it locks up only a minute or two into the video. I bought the 442 for it's line in video recording capability, (since it's audo and picture viewing capabilites are primitive at best) and with no video recording capability the usefulness of the 442 is very limited. Can I still get a full refund now?? |

Well I just got my Neuros back from service and it's working now, but with a freshly formatted harddrive I'm having problems right out of the box. When I'm trying to play or record a movie, sometimes it will play and other times it will lock up within a minute or two.
I'm considering downgrading to firmware 1.2.4 but this is very frustrating that this device won't work properly. |

huh. odd. I still get a timeout error.
The connection has timed out The server at open.neurostechnology.com is taking too long to respond * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. i can't imagine why it would be blocked? as far as i can tell its not blocked by my routers. maybe my ISP is blocking the site for some reason? Huh, so i connected to my neighbors wireless and it works fine. How odddddd. time to check my routers again. |

Quote What do you mean, "Manually"? Hm. I meant (a) cp files to the 'MUSIC' dir and (b) run 'find orphans.' I was under the impression (probably from reading forum posts before buying the device) that 'b' was an operation performed on the device itself. Wrong, obviously. Quote ... you're going to have to either continue using NSM or NDBM on your wife's computer or get NDBM working under Linux. Still working on the latter. |
